Day 1

Zanzibar to Magical Serengeti

Zanzibar to Magical Serengeti

After an early breakfast in Zanzibar, you will be transferred to the airport for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the iconic Serengeti National Park.

Upon landing at Seronera Airstrip, your professional safari guide will warmly welcome you and begin your first game drive en route to your lodge.

This introductory drive offers an immediate immersion into the Serengeti ecosystem, where wildlife sightings are often abundant from the very start. Expect to encounter large herds of plains game such as zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and Thomson’s gazelles, often followed closely by predators including lions and cheetahs. The central Serengeti’s river systems attract elephants, giraffes, and buffalo, while the skies are alive with colorful birdlife.

As the afternoon light softens, the landscape takes on golden hues, creating perfect photographic moments. You’ll arrive at your lodge in time to relax, enjoy sundowners, and savor a refined dinner under the African sky.

Full Day Game Drive - Serengeti National Park

Full Day Game Drive - Serengeti National Park

After an early breakfast, you’ll set out on an extended morning game drive when wildlife activity is at its peak. The Serengeti is famous for its extraordinary density of predators, making it one of the best places in Africa to witness lion prides in action, solitary leopards resting on acacia branches, and cheetahs scanning the horizon for prey.

Depending on the season, you may also witness massive herds of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains, part of the Great Migration cycle. The varied habitats—open grasslands, rocky kopjes, and riverine areas—support a wide diversity of species, including hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, and elephants.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to the lodge for a short rest before continuing with an afternoon game drive. As the sun sets, the Serengeti transforms into a dramatic canvas of colors, concluding a day rich in wildlife encounters and unforgettable scenery.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you’ll depart the Serengeti and journey southeast toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through changing landscapes from open plains to highland forests.

Upon arrival, you’ll descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas and a true natural wonder. The crater floor is a compact wildlife haven, supporting an incredible concentration of animals year-round. Here you have excellent chances of spotting the endangered black rhino, large bull elephants with impressive tusks, and dense populations of lions.

Flamingos often gather around the soda lake, while hippos wallow in nearby pools. After a rewarding game drive and picnic lunch inside the crater, you’ll ascend to the rim and continue to Karatu town for your overnight stay. The cooler highland climate, lush farmland, and peaceful surroundings provide a perfect contrast to the open Savannah of the Serengeti.

This morning, after breakfast, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive through the fertile Ngorongoro Highlands toward the airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar.

Along the way, you’ll pass traditional villages, coffee farms, and rolling green landscapes that offer insight into rural Tanzanian life beyond the parks. Though this is a travel day, wildlife sightings are still possible, particularly birds and plains game along the route.

Upon arrival at the Arusha airport, you’ll board your scheduled flight back to Zanzibar, reflecting on the extraordinary journey you’ve just experienced—from endless Serengeti plains to the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater.
