Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s vibrant capital, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. After some refreshment, begin your city tour with a visit to the Ethnological Museum, housed in the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie, offering deep insight into Ethiopia’s diverse cultures and history. Continue to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, an important religious and historical landmark. In the afternoon, explore Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market, where everyday life, colors, and sounds create an unforgettable experience.

Depart Addis Ababa by flight or scenic drive to Arba Minch, located in the Great Rift Valley. En route, stop at the Tiya Stelae Field, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring mysterious ancient stone monuments dating back centuries. Arrive in Arba Minch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon overlooking Lake Chamo, surrounded by lush landscapes and wildlife-rich waters.

Day 3
Arbaminch - Konso - Jinka

Early in the morning, enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Chamo, famous for its large crocodiles, hippos, and diverse birdlife. After the boat trip, drive to Konso, a UNESCO-listed cultural landscape known for its impressive stone terracing, wooden statues (waga), and well-preserved traditions. Visit a Konso village to learn about their social organization and sustainable farming practices. Continue onward to Jinka, the administrative center of the Omo Valley.

Jinka - Mursi village - Turmi
Early departure to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, one of the most iconic ethnic groups of the Omo Valley, known for their traditional lifestyle and distinctive lip plates worn by women. After the visit, continue driving south through remote and scenic landscapes to Turmi, home of the Hamar people. If conditions permit, you may witness the famous bull-jumping ceremony, a traditional rite of passage for young men.

Today, drive to Omorate, located near the Kenyan border, and cross the Omo River by local boat to visit the Dassanech tribe, known for their unique customs and riverside lifestyle. Return to Turmi in the afternoon and visit a Hamar village, where you may experience traditional dances, storytelling, and daily village life.

Depart Turmi toward Key Afer, home to one of the most colorful tribal markets in southern Ethiopia. If visiting on a Thursday, you will see Hamar, Tsemay, Ari, and Benna people trading goods, livestock, and crafts. Continue your journey through the scenic Omo and Borana landscapes to Yabelo, located in the heart of the Borana region.

In the morning, visit El Sod Crater Lake, where the Borana people still extract salt using traditional methods passed down for generations. Continue north to Dorze village, famous for its towering bamboo houses and fine cotton weaving. Learn about the Dorze way of life and witness local textile production. Later, drive back to Arba Minch for a relaxing evening.
