Gorilla trekking experience

Gorilla trekking experience

Today is the highlight of your trip and truly a dream come true. After enjoying a heavy breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for the morning briefing. This session usually begins with a lively traditional dance followed by a general orientation about gorilla trekking. Afterward, visitors are distributed into groups of 8 people, and families are allocated at this stage.

The trekking time depends entirely on where the gorilla family assigned to you is located, meaning the trek can last around 4 hours or sometimes extend up to 8 hours in total. Once you reach the gorillas, viewing time is strictly limited to one unforgettable hour, allowing you to observe their behavior and interactions up close. Wearing a face mask is mandatory to protect the gorillas from human transmitted infections. After this extraordinary encounter, you will trek back, return to your lodge, and relax, reflecting on the magical experience of meeting the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
