Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Entebbe as you travel west through Uganda's scenic countryside, passing rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural communities. Enjoy a lunch stop en route before continuing to Kibale Forest, renowned as the primate capital of Africa.
In the afternoon, explore the community-run Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a biodiversity hotspot known for its rich birdlife, monkeys, and cultural significance. This guided walk offers an excellent introduction to the region's unique ecosystems and local conservation efforts.
Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is one of Uganda's most successful community tourism initiatives and a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Bordering Kibale Forest, the wetland is home to over 200 bird species, several monkey species including the black-and-white colobus and red-tailed monkey, as well as countless butterflies and plant species. It offers you an opportunity to experience how conservation supports local communities.

After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest for a memorable chimpanzee trekking experience. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you'll track our closest relatives through the forest as they feed, socialize, and move through the canopy.
Following lunch, begin the scenic journey south toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive passes through spectacular landscapes of crater lakes, terraced hillsides, and traditional villages, offering a glimpse into rural Uganda. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and settle into your lodge in preparation for tomorrow's gorilla trek.
Kibale Forest National Park is widely regarded as the primate capital of Africa, hosting 13 species of primates and one of the highest concentrations of chimpanzees on the continent. Trekking through this tropical rainforest offers an opportunity to observe chimpanzees as they communicate, groom, and interact in their natural habitat, and is considered one of Uganda's most memorable wildlife encounters.

Today brings the highlight of your safari. After a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, venture into Bwindi's ancient rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can last from 2 to 6 hours depending on the group you are visiting, but the reward is extraordinary: a full hour spent observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After this once-in-a-lifetime encounter, transfer to the breathtaking Lake Bunyonyi, often described as Uganda's most beautiful lake. Surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with islands, it provides the perfect setting to relax after an exhilarating day.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Trekking through this ancient rainforest is both an adventure and a privilege. After the excursion, begin your return journey to Entebbe, traveling through Uganda's picturesque highlands and countryside. Arrive in the evening for drop-off at Entebbe International Airport or your hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable primate and cultural safari.
Lake Bunyonyi, meaning "Place of Many Little Birds," is one of Africa's most scenic and tranquil lakes. Surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with 29 islands, it is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural history. During your canoe excursion, you'll visit the famous Punishment Island, where unmarried pregnant girls were once abandoned according to a traditional Bakiga custom.
