Day 1

Nairobi to Lake Naivasha

Nairobi to Lake Naivasha

Hippos, Boat Rides & Crescent Island Walking Safari
Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA around 7:30 AM. Meet your private driver-guide and depart for Lake Naivasha, a scenic 1.5-2 hour drive through the Great Rift Valley with a photo stop at the viewpoint. Arrive at your midrange lakeside lodge in time for lunch and check-in. After lunch, enjoy a boat ride on the freshwater lake—getting up close to hippo families, watching fish eagles dive for prey, and observing cormorants, pelicans, and herons. The boat takes you to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a guided walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and impalas—a unique experience that brings you closer to wildlife than any vehicle can. Return to your lodge for dinner overlooking the lake.

Journey to Kilimanjaro's Foothills

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with views of the lake, perhaps taking a morning walk around the lodge grounds. Check out and depart for Amboseli National Park, a scenic 4-5 hour drive south through Kajiado County, passing traditional Maasai homesteads and open savannah. The route takes you back through Nairobi and continues south toward the Tanzanian border. Arrive at your midrange lodge in the Amboseli area in time for lunch. After settling in and resting during the heat of the day, head out for your first Amboseli game drive around 4:00 PM. Amboseli is famous for its enormous elephant herds against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Full-Day in Amboseli National Park

Giants of the African Savannah
Rise early for a sunrise game drive (around 6:00 AM)—the best time for photography as the first light touches Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak and elephants emerge from the swamps. The morning cool means predators are often still active, and birds are abundant. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and relaxation during the heat of the day. Your lodge features a swimming pool with stunning views of Kilimanjaro—perfect for unwinding while watching elephants in the distance. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive exploring different areas of the park. Visit Observation Hill for panoramic views of Amboseli's diverse ecosystems, from dried lake beds to permanent swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's melting snow. The swamps attract hippos, elephants, and a dazzling array of waterfowl. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
