Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and wildlife-rich destinations, located just a few hours’ drive from Arusha. The park is famous for its vast savannah landscapes, ancient baobab trees, and the life-giving Tarangire River that flows through the heart of the park.
Covering approximately 2,850 square kilometers, Tarangire is especially renowned for its large elephant population, often seen in impressive herds gathering along the riverbanks. During the dry season, the park becomes a vital refuge for wildlife, attracting zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelope species. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most breathtaking natural wonders and a highlight of any Tanzanian safari. Formed millions of years ago when a massive volcano collapsed, the crater is the world’s largest intact and unfilled volcanic caldera, creating a unique and self-contained wildlife haven.
The crater floor covers about 260 square kilometers and is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Visitors can spot lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and hyenas within a relatively small area. It is also one of the best places in Tanzania to see the rare black rhino.
