Day 1
Moshi– Londorossi Gate (2100m) – Mti Mkubwa camp (2750m)
Moshi– Londorossi Gate (2100m) – Mti Mkubwa camp (2750m)
After breakfast at your hotel in Moshi, your guide will brief you on the day’s adventure. You will then drive about two hours from Arusha to Londorossi Park Gate (2,100m) on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Near the gate, you will receive a packed lunch and have the chance to purchase mineral water. The final 45 minutes of the journey follows a rough forest track requiring a 4WD vehicle.
At the gate, guides and porters organize supplies and complete registration with the Tanzania National Parks Authority. Your trek then begins with a three-hour hike through lush rainforest. Keep an eye out for black-and-white Colobus monkeys along the way. After a lunch break on the trail, you will continue to Mti Mkubwa (“Big Tree”) Campsite (2,750m), arriving in the early evening.
The porters will have your tents set up and water boiled for drinking and washing. After a snack and dinner prepared by the camp chef, rest well — temperatures can drop to freezing at night.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp (2750m) – Shira 2 Camp (3840m)
Mti Mkubwa Camp (2750m) – Shira 2 Camp (3840m)
After an early breakfast, you begin your ascent on Mount Kilimanjaro, leaving the dense rainforest behind and entering the heather and moorland zone. The trail crosses several small streams and gradually climbs across an open plateau with expansive mountain views.
After several hours of steady trekking, you arrive at Shira II Camp (3,840m). Set beside a stream, the campsite offers spectacular views of the Western Breach and its glaciers rising dramatically to the east.
As on previous days, the porters will arrive ahead of the group to set up your tents and prepare drinking and washing water. In the evening, you will enjoy light snacks followed by a freshly prepared dinner from the camp chef.
Because the camp is exposed, temperatures often drop below freezing at night. Be sure to layer up and prepare for a cold but rewarding night on the mountain.

Shira (3840m) – Lava Tower (4630m) – Barranco Camp (3950m)
After an early breakfast, you leave the moorland behind and enter a stark semi-desert landscape of rock and alpine terrain on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Trekking east for about five hours, you gradually gain altitude until the dramatic silhouette of Lava Tower rises before you.
Packed lunches are enjoyed at the base of the tower, and weather permitting, hikers may choose to climb part of this impressive volcanic formation. At this elevation, it is common to begin feeling the effects of altitude,
After lunch, you descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m). This descent is vital for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust more effectively to the high altitude. The walk down takes about two hours and leads into a scenic valley beneath the Great Barranco Wall,
At camp, porters will have drinking and washing water ready, followed by a freshly prepared dinner. As the sun sets over the valley, you can relax and take in the spectacular mountain views before settling in for the night.

Day 4
Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m)
Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m)
Today is a shorter trekking day focused on acclimatization. After an early breakfast on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, you set out to conquer the impressive Barranco Wall. Though it may appear intimidating at first, this Class 2 scramble is non-technical and far more manageable than most hikers expect. Slow, steady progress and guidance from your crew ensure a safe and rewarding climb.
At the top, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Heim Glacier and a stunning perspective above the clouds. The trail then winds through the scenic Karanga Valley, with a mix of gentle ascents and descents that continue to aid acclimatization.
By afternoon, you arrive at Karanga Camp (3,950m). After settling in, you’ll have time to wash, relax, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner as you prepare for the higher elevations ahead.

Day 5
Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600)
Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600)
After breakfast, you begin a steady ascent on Mount Kilimanjaro. Along the way, the trail meets the Mweka Route, which will be used for your descent in the coming days. After about an hour of hiking, you reach Barafu Hut, the final water collection point for the porters, as there is no natural water source at camp.
Soon after, you arrive at Barafu Camp (4,550m). “Barafu” means “ice” in Swahili — a fitting name for this exposed, rocky ridge perched high above the clouds. The campsite is often windy, and the terrain is uneven, so take time to familiarize yourself with the area before nightfall.
An early dinner is served to allow maximum rest before the midnight summit attempt. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing on preparation, pacing, and safety for summit night. Aim to be in your sleeping bag by 19:00 to conserve energy for the final push to the roof of Africa.

Summit attempt Barafu Camp (4600m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Mweka (3100m)
Summit day on Mount Kilimanjaro is the ultimate test of endurance and determination. Your guide will wake you around 23:30 for a light snack of tea and biscuits before beginning the final ascent under the stars.
The route heads northwest over loose stone scree, a section often described as both mentally and physically demanding. After approximately six hours of steady climbing, you reach Stella Point (5,685m) on the crater rim.
From Stella Point, the trail continues for about two hours along a snow-covered ridge to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Reaching the summit is a lifetime achievement
The descent begins immediately, retracing your steps down to Barafu Camp. This section takes roughly three hours and allows your body to recover gradually from the extreme altitude. Summit day covers approximately 7 kilometers of ascent and 23 kilometers of descent. It’s a long but immensely rewarding day, marking the pinnacle of your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Day 7
Mweka Camp (3100m) – Mweka Gate (1980m) - Moshi
Mweka Camp (3100m) – Mweka Gate (1980m) - Moshi
After a well-earned breakfast at Barafu Camp, your team will host a lively celebration with singing, dancing, and laughter. This is also the moment to present tips to your guide, assistant guides, chef(s), and porters
After the festivities, you begin the descent to Mweka Gate","kilimanjaro park gate tanzania"], which takes about three hours. At the gate, the Tanzania National Parks Authority requires all hikers to register their names to receive certificates of completion. Those who reached Stella Point (5,685m) receive green certificates, while those who summited Uhuru Peak (5,895m) are awarded gold certificates.
From Mweka Gate, you continue a gentle one-hour (3 km) walk through the village, where a hot lunch awaits. Afterwards, you will be driven back to Moshi for long-overdue showers, rest, and more celebration. This marks the joyful conclusion of your Kilimanjaro adventure — a journey of endurance, achievement, and unforgettable memories.
