The Serengeti is home to a remarkable variety of animals, from predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs to herbivores such as wildebeests. As one of Africa’s premier safari destinations, it offers the chance to encounter the Big Five: lions, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, and elephants. The park is also world-renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Northern Serengeti.

From early July to early October, this region is a prime location for observing wildlife such as wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes as they migrate from Kogatende to the Masai Mara, crossing the Mara River. This spectacle is particularly fascinating as large numbers of wildebeests move together, often encountering predators like crocodiles, which lie in wait, trying to capture them for food.

The crater is 610 meters deep and spans roughly 260 square kilometers, supporting a dense population of about 25,000 ungulates. Here, you can quickly encounter wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and over 500 bird species. With some luck, you may even spot the endangered black rhino grazing in its natural habitat.

After a full game drive and a picnic lunch, you will ascend from the crater and return to Arusha in the afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport.
