Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
The journey begins with a departure from Nairobi, heading south through the Athi Plains and into the heart of Maasai country. Upon arrival at Amboseli, the landscape is immediately dominated by the massive silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters). An afternoon game drive focuses on the Enkongo Narok and Olokenya swamps. These wetlands are critical refuges for hippopotamus and large "tusker" elephants. The open plains allow for excellent visibility of cheetahs and hyenas. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After checking into the lodge, the afternoon is spent at Mzima Springs. Here, an underwater viewing chamber allows visitors to observe hippos and crocodiles in a unique aquatic environment. The park’s hilly terrain provides a sanctuary for the elusive leopard and the endangered black rhino, protected within the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

A key highlight is the Galana River, which cuts through the park, and the Lugard Falls, where the river plunges through eroded rock formations. The afternoon game drive focuses on the "Big Five," with Tsavo East being particularly famous for its large lion prides, historically known for their lack of manes in this specific region.
