Arrival in Entebbe & Transfer to Mgahinga

Your adventure begins upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide. After a short briefing about your journey, begin the scenic drive southwest toward Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

The journey takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside with rolling green hills, tea plantations, roadside markets, and vibrant local towns. Along the way you will have stopovers for stretching, refreshments, and lunch while enjoying the changing landscapes.

As you approach southwestern Uganda, the dramatic peaks of the Virunga Volcanoes begin to appear in the distance, creating a stunning backdrop for your adventure. You will arrive at your lodge in Kisoro in the evening where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s exciting gorilla trek.

Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

You will then set off into the bamboo forests and along the mountain slopes in search of one of the habituated gorilla families.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas that day. When the moment finally comes and you meet them, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural home.

After the trek, we shall transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Lake Bunyonyi is one of the most beautiful lakes in Africa. It is surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with many small islands, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and spend the evening relaxing by the lake, enjoying the cool breeze and beautiful sunset views.

Morning Canoe Experience & Transfer to Entebbe

Wake up to the fresh mountain air and enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the calm waters of Lake Bunyonyi.

You will then enjoy a traditional canoe boat ride across the lake. This peaceful activity allows you to glide gently across the water while admiring the beautiful islands and surrounding hills. Your guide may also share stories about the lake and its local communities.

After the canoe experience, begin the scenic drive back toward Entebbe. The journey offers more opportunities to enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside with rolling hills, farmland, and lively towns along the way. Stop for lunch and short breaks as needed.

Arrive in Entebbe in the evening and check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight rest before the final activity of the safari.

Shoebill Tracking and Transfer to The Airport

After an early breakfast, transfer to Mabamba Wetland located on the shores of Lake Victoria. This wetland is one of the best places in Uganda to see the rare shoebill stork, one of Africa’s most sought-after birds.

You will explore the swamp by motorized canoe, gliding quietly through narrow papyrus channels while scanning the wetlands for birdlife. The shoebill is famous for its prehistoric appearance and powerful bill, and spotting one in its natural habitat is truly a magical and unforgettable experience.

The wetlands are also home to many other bird species, making the excursion very rewarding for bird lovers and photographers.

After the excursion, return to your hotel for lunch and some relaxation before transferring to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your incredible Ugandan adventure.
