Day 1
Rongai Gate – Simba Camp
Rongai Gate – Simba Camp
After breakfast, drive to Rongai Gate located near the Kenyan border. After completing park registration at Kilimanjaro National Park, the trek begins through cultivated land and pine forest before gradually entering the wilderness area. The trail climbs gently through forest and moorland with possible sightings of wildlife such as colobus monkeys.

Day 2
Second Cave – Kikelewa Camp
Second Cave – Kikelewa Camp
Today’s hike is a steady climb through moorland vegetation with stunning views of the northern side of the mountain and the Kenyan plains. The trail is peaceful and less crowded compared to other Kilimanjaro routes.

Day 3
Second Cave – Kikelewa Camp
Second Cave – Kikelewa Camp
The trail gradually ascends toward Kikelewa Camp. The terrain becomes steeper as you move through alpine vegetation zones with giant groundsels and lobelias, plants unique to Kilimanjaro.

Day 4
Kikelewa Camp – Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Kikelewa Camp – Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Today’s hike is shorter but steeper as you climb to Mawenzi Tarn, located beneath the dramatic spires of Mawenzi Peak, the second-highest peak of Kilimanjaro. The afternoon is usually reserved for acclimatization and short walks around camp.

Day 5
Mawenzi Tarn – Kibo Hut
Mawenzi Tarn – Kibo Hut
Today the trail crosses the barren alpine desert between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, often referred to as the “Saddle.” The terrain is dry and open, with spectacular views of Kibo Peak. You will arrive at Kibo Hut, where you rest early before the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6
Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut
Kibo Hut – Summit – Horombo Hut
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. The climb is challenging but rewarding as you ascend to Gilman's Point and continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Elevation: 4,700 m → 5,895 m → 3,720 m

Day 7
Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate
Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate
After breakfast, continue descending through moorland and lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. Here you will receive your summit certificates before transferring back to Moshi for celebration and relaxation.
Elevation: 3,720 m to 1,870 m
Distance: 20 km
Hiking Time: 5–7 hours.
