Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your professional safari guide who will assist you with airport formalities and luggage. Day 2

After breakfast in Entebbe, you will depart for Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The journey typically takes around 6 to 7 hours depending on road conditions, offering an excellent opportunity to enjoy Uganda’s scenic landscapes along the way. You will pass through lush countryside, small rural villages, and rolling hills covered in tea and coffee plantations. Along the route, there are opportunities to stop for photographs of the picturesque scenery, interact briefly with local communities, and enjoy refreshments at designated rest points. The drive also provides a glimpse of Uganda’s rich agricultural life, with farmers tending to crops such as bananas, maize, and vegetables. Upon reaching the vicinity of Kibale National Park in the afternoon, you will check in at your lodge located near the forest. After settling in, you can relax, enjoy the lodge amenities, and have dinner while soaking in the peaceful sounds of the forest.

Kibale National Park, known as the primate capital of the world, is home to about 1,500 chimpanzees and 12 other primate species. Chimpanzee trekking begins early with a briefing by experienced rangers on safety and behavior. Trekking takes you through lush rainforest trails, sometimes muddy, in search of habituated chimpanzee groups. Once located, you spend up to an hour observing them feeding, playing, and interacting in their natural habitat. The trek offers an unforgettable wildlife encounter and chimpanzee social behavior. After lunch, you will visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary a community-managed swamp and forest reserve ideal for birdwatching and spotting monkeys. Guided walks follow raised boardwalks and trails through wetlands and forest edges, where visitors can see red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of birds, insects etc. The walk typically lasts 2 - 3 hours and provides educational experience, highlighting local biodiversity and conservation efforts.

After breakfast, you will begin the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The journey covers depending on your starting point, typically takes between 6 - 8 hours due to the hilly and winding terrain. The drive is scenic, offering a continuous panorama of Uganda’s lush landscapes, including rolling hills, terraced farmlands and occasional glimpses of local wildlife i.e. monkeys and birds along roadside. Roads vary in quality, both paved sections interspersed with dirt roads, so the journey may feel adventurous and adds to the safari experience. The lodge is next to the forest which will be your base, offering comfort and proximity to the starting points for gorilla trekking the following day. Arriving in the afternoon allows for relaxation after the long drive. Guests can take in the spectacular views of the surrounding forest. Evening activities may include a visit to nearby community. Dinner is served at the lodge, followed by an overnight stay.

The park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans about 331 square kilometers of dense tropical rainforest and is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Treks begin early in the morning at the park headquarters, where visitors receive a briefing from experienced rangers. The briefing covers safety instructions, park rules, and proper behavior around gorillas. Groups are limited to 8 people per gorilla family to ensure minimal disturbance. The trek itself can take anywhere from 1- 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. The forest terrain is steep, often muddy, and densely vegetated, so participants should be prepared for moderate physical activity. Guides and trackers use their expertise to locate the gorillas while highlighting the forest’s rich wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and other primates. Once the gorillas are found, trekkers spend up to one hour observing them. Photographs are allowed, but a respectful distance must be maintained.

After breakfast, depart from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and drive to Volcanoes National Park. The journey passes through the scenic highlands of southwestern Uganda with beautiful views of terraced hills, rural villages, and farmland. You will cross the border into Rwanda at either Cyanika and continue through the country’s famous rolling hills, often called the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” As you approach Volcanoes National Park, the dramatic Virunga volcanoes become visible, creating a stunning backdrop to the surrounding landscapes. You will arrive in the Musanze area in the afternoon and check in at your lodge for relaxation and preparation for the golden monkey trekking experience the following day. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After breakfast, you will depart from the Volcanoes region and drive to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city. The scenic journey takes about two to three hours through the country’s beautiful rolling hills and rural landscapes. Depending on time, you may enjoy a short city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial or local craft markets. Later, you will transfer to Kigali International Airport for your Air transfer to Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will connect to a domestic flight to Serengeti. At the airstrip in Serengeti National Park, your safari guide will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge or tented camp with possible wildlife sightings along the way. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.

The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing as you leave the vast plains of the Serengeti. Along the way, you may enjoy a final game drive where animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes can often be seen roaming freely across the savannah. You will exit the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate, where the landscape gradually changes from open plains to the greener highlands of the Ngorongoro region. If time allows, a stop can be made at the famous Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important archaeological sites known for discoveries that contributed to the understanding of early human evolution. After an early breakfast, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Enjoy a morning game drive through open grasslands, forests, and wetlands, with opportunities to observe predators, large herds of grazing animals, and diverse birdlife. A picnic lunch is served amidst this spectacular scenery before continuing your wildlife exploration in the afternoon. In the late afternoon, you ascend to the crater rim for breathtaking panoramic views and begin the drive to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time to visit local markets or cultural centers. Finally, you are transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward flight.
