Start at Umbwe Gate with park registration, then trek through dense rainforest along steep, narrow trails. The lush forest is full of towering trees and wildlife. Arrive at Umbwe Cave Camp (2,900 m) for your first night, preparing your body for the climb ahead.

Day 2
Umbwe Cave Camp – Barranco Camp

Leave the rainforest and ascend through moorland with giant heathers and lobelias. Navigate ridges and valleys, enjoying spectacular views of the southern wall. Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,960 m) for acclimatization and rest.

Day 3
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Begin the day with the famous Barranco Wall scramble, a steep but rewarding climb with panoramic views. Continue trekking through valleys and ridges into the high alpine desert before reaching Karanga Camp (4,035 m), preparing for the summit push.

Day 4
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640 m), the base for your summit attempt. Pass rocky alpine desert terrain with expansive mountain vistas. Arrive early to rest, enjoy dinner, and mentally prepare for the midnight ascent.

Day 5
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Start your summit attempt around midnight. Climb steeply to Stella Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). After celebrating at the top, descend through alpine and rainforest zones to Mweka Camp (3,100 m) for rest.

Complete the descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m). Receive your official summit certificate before transferring back to Moshi. Celebrate your achievement and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
