Arusha / Moshi – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

Your Mount Meru trekking adventure begins with a morning departure from Arusha or Moshi to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, the official starting point for the trek. After registration and meeting your professional mountain guide and armed ranger, the hike begins through dense montane forest where you may encounter giraffes, buffalo, bushbucks, and various bird species. The trail gradually ascends through beautiful scenery, crossing small streams and open clearings while offering views of the Meru crater and surrounding plains. After several hours of trekking, arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514 m) where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain environment. Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.

Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut – Summit Attempt

After breakfast, continue trekking from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570 m) through steep forest and open alpine landscapes. Along the way enjoy panoramic views of the Meru crater and Ash Cone. After lunch and a short rest, begin your summit attempt to Socialist Peak (4,566 m) during the early morning hours. The climb follows a dramatic ridge with breathtaking views and an unforgettable sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro and the African plains. After reaching the summit and taking photos, descend back to Saddle Hut, rest briefly, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha / Moshi

On the final day, descend from Miriakamba Hut through the scenic forest trails of Arusha National Park back to Momella Gate. During the descent you may again spot wildlife and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the mountain forest. After completing the trek, receive your Mount Meru trekking certificate at the park gate before driving back to Arusha or Moshi, marking the end of your unforgettable Mount Meru trekking adventure in Tanzania.
