Day 1

Your adventure begins at Marangu Gate, the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. After registration and a briefing from your mountain guide, you begin hiking through dense rainforest filled with unique plants, colorful birds, and playful monkeys. The gentle trail gradually leads you to Mandara Hut, located at about 2,700 meters above sea level. Along the way, you may explore the nearby Maundi Crater and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding forest and landscapes.

As you ascend, your guide will introduce you to the rich ecology of the mountain, pointing out towering trees draped in moss, giant ferns, and endemic plant species that thrive in this humid environment. The rainforest is one of the most biodiverse zones on the mountain and offers excellent opportunities for nature photography and birdwatching. After breakfast, you descend from Mandara Hut back through the lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. The walk offers another opportunity to enjoy the rich vegetation and wildlife of Kilimanjaro National Park. Upon arrival at the gate, you receive your trekking certificate before continuing your journey to Arusha for rest and preparation for the upcoming wildlife safari.

During the descent, you may notice details that were easily missed on the way up, including vibrant forest flowers, towering indigenous trees, and the sounds of birds echoing through the canopy. The cooler temperatures and gentle downhill trail make for a comfortable and enjoyable hike.
