Arriving in Samburu around midday, you will check in at your lodge or camp and enjoy a relaxing lunch surrounded by the natural beauty of the reserve. After some time to rest, head out for your first exciting afternoon game drive. Samburu is famous for its unique wildlife species often referred to as the “Samburu Special Five,” including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx, As you explore the reserve along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Exploring the remarkable wilderness of Samburu National Reserve with extended morning and afternoon game drives. After an early breakfast at the lodge or camp, head out into the reserve as the wildlife becomes active in the cool morning hours. The reserve is centered around the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River, where many animals gather to drink, making it an excellent location for wildlife viewing.
During the game drive, you may encounter elephants, lions, leopards, and large herds of antelope. Samburu is also famous for the rare northern species known as the “Samburu Special Five,” including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and the long-necked gerenuk. The reserve’s rugged landscape, dotted with acacia trees and rocky outcrops, provides dramatic scenery and fantastic photography opportunities.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before heading out again in the afternoon for another exciting game drive.

After breakfast, depart from Samburu National Reserve and begin a scenic journey toward the lush wilderness of Meru National Park. The drive takes you through the beautiful landscapes of northern Kenya, passing rural villages, rolling hills, and changing vegetation as the terrain transitions from the semi-arid Samburu region to the greener and more fertile Meru area.

Arrive at Meru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, surrounded by the park’s peaceful natural environment. After breakfast, depart from Meru National Park and drive west toward the renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The journey takes you through scenic northern Kenyan landscapes, passing rolling hills, acacia-dotted plains, and local communities. Arrive at Ol Pejeta in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, set within this expansive private conservancy known for its exceptional wildlife and conservation efforts.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive exploring Ol Pejeta’s open savannahs and shaded woodlands. The conservancy is home to the Big Five, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos. A highlight is visiting the rhino sanctuary, which shelters both black and white rhinos under strict protection. You can also visit the Sweetwater's Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Africa’s largest chimp rescue center.
