Midday, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest before heading out for an optional visit to a local Samburu community. Depart after breakfast from Samburu National Reserve and begin the scenic drive south toward Nanyuki. The journey takes you through changing landscapes, from the semi-arid plains of Samburu to the lush, rolling hills of the Laikipia region, with opportunities to stop for photos, refreshments, or to admire the scenic vistas.
Arriving in Nanyuki by early afternoon, you can take in the town’s historic charm. Founded in the early 20th century, Nanyuki was established by British settlers and remains a key hub at the foot of Mount Kenya. Its colonial-era architecture, bustling markets, and proximity to wildlife conservancies make it a unique stop on your safari. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in the nearby conservancy or surrounding areas, encountering elephants, zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife. After breakfast, you check out of the lodge and begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi.
The journey takes you through picturesque landscapes, including rolling hills, farmlands, and small towns that showcase Kenya’s rural life and culture.
