Morning: Depart from Mombasa or Nairobi (depending on your starting point) with your Adventurego guide. Enjoy a scenic drive through the sprawling savannahs and the iconic truck stop at Voi.

Afternoon: Arrive at Taita Hills (Taita Rocks). Check in and enjoy a welcome lunch overlooking the dramatic cliff faces.

Late Afternoon: Acclimatization walk. Hike the immediate trails around the Taita Rocks complex to stretch your legs and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding plains and the Mount Kilimanjaro peak (weather permitting).

Evening: Overnight stay at Taita Rocks. Prepare your gear for the challenging hikes ahead.

Day 2

Ngangao Forest & Iyale Exploration

Theme: Ancient Forests & Rock Formations

Early Morning: After an early breakfast, drive to Ngangao Forest. This is one of the few remaining indigenous cloud forests in the region.

Hike: Embark on a guided hike through Ngangao Forest. Your guide will point out rare bird species (endemic Taita Apalis, Taita Thrush), unique flora, and ancient trees. The cool, misty atmosphere makes for a refreshing trek.

Lunch: Picnic lunch near the forest edge or return to the lodge for a brief rest.

Afternoon: Head to Iyale. Tackle the Iyale Forest trails, working your way up to the summit of Iyale Rock. This granite outcrop offers a moderate scramble with rewarding views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Evening: Return to Taita Rocks for dinner and a second overnight stay. Enjoy a bonfire debrief of the day’s climbs.

Day 3

Conquer Vuria Peak & Transfer to Tsavo West

Theme: The Highest Point

Early Morning: This is the big hiking day. Depart very early to climb Vuria Peak—the highest point in the Taita Hills and the Taita Taveta County.

Hike: A challenging but rewarding trek through local farms and remnant forest patches. Upon reaching the summit (approx. 2,200m), you are rewarded with breathtaking views of Tsavo West, the Chyulu Hills, and on a clear day, the snows of Kilimanjaro.

Late Morning: Descend and transfer to Tsavo West National Park.

Afternoon: Check into the historic Kitani Bandas (self-contained cottages managed by Kenya Wildlife Service). Unwind with a swim or a short walk.

Late Afternoon: Embark on a game drive en-route to Mzima Springs.

Evening: Visit Mzima Springs. Walk the underwater hippo observation chamber to see hippos and crocodiles from below the water’s surface. Return to Kitani Bandas for a bush dinner.

Day 4

Volcanic Hikes - Chaimu Crater & Shetani Lava

Theme: Fire & Ice (Volcanic Terrain)

Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the Bandas before heading out for a specialized hiking experience.

Activity 1: Hike the Chaimu Hill Crater. Chaimu is a volcanic cinder cone. Unlike the dense forests of Taita, this terrain is stark, rocky, and black. Climb to the rim to see the remnants of lava flows and the unique "lava trees."

Activity 2: Proceed to the Shetani Lava Flow. This is a vast, black expanse of cooled lava. Take a guided hike along the edge (or a short walk onto the flow) to understand the geology and the local Maasai legends associated with the devil (Shetani).

Afternoon: Relax back at Kitani Bandas or enjoy a game drive in Tsavo West looking for red elephants, lions, and leopards.

Evening: Dinner and overnight at Kitani Bandas.

Transfer to Salt Lick & Lake Jipe Hike

Theme: Wetlands & Wildlife

Morning: Enjoy a final sunrise breakfast at Kitani Bandas. Check out and transfer to Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy.

Late Morning: Arrive at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, famous for its stilted rooms overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Check in and freshen up.

Lunch: Lunch at Salt Lick Safari Lodge.

Afternoon: Drive to the southern border of the conservancy to visit Lake Jipe.

Hike: Enjoy a guided hike along the shores of Lake Jipe. This is a birding paradise. Look for fish eagles, African jacanas, and the rare shoebill stork (seasonal). The backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro across the water provides a spectacular photo opportunity.

Evening: Return to Salt Lick Safari Lodge for dinner.

Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch. Enjoy a siesta or simply relax on your deck watching elephants and buffalo visit the waterhole.

Late Afternoon: High tea followed by an afternoon game drive.

Evening: Night Game Drive. Experience the bush after dark. With powerful spotlights, search for nocturnal animals such as bush babies, genets, aardvarks, porcupines, and the elusive leopard.
