Nyungwe Forest National Park | Canopy Walk Experience

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport in Kigali by a Wild Journeys Rwanda representative followed by a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Enjoy a breathtaking road trip through Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills, lush tea plantations, and vibrant countryside communities truly showcasing why Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

You will have lunch en route, with optional stopovers for photography and cultural experiences.

Upon arrival, check in at Chimpanzee Lodge, where you can relax and take in the serene forest surroundings.

In the afternoon, proceed for the canopy walk experience, a guided hike through the forest leading to a suspended walkway high above the treetops. This unique activity offers spectacular views of the rainforest canopy. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Birds and primates along the way.

Chimpanzee Trekking

Start your day early with breakfast at the lodge, before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing.

You will then embark on an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Accompanied by experienced guides, venture into the forest in search of a habituated chimpanzee group. The trek can take between 1–4 hours, depending on their location.

Once found, enjoy a magical one hour observing the chimpanzees as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat—an experience that is both thrilling and deeply memorable.

After the trek, return to the lodge for refreshment and check-out, followed by your transfer back to Kigali.

Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 2-day primate adventure in Rwanda.
