Morning: Depart Nairobi (approx. 2.5 hours). Arrive at Lake Elementaita, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a 3-hour guided walking tour along the lake’s edge and through acacia woodlands. Target birds: Greater and Lesser Flamingos, Great White Pelicans, Black-necked Grebes, Pied Kingfishers, and the rare Grey-crested Helmet-shrike.
Lunch: Drive to Lake Bogoria Spa Resort for a hot lunch.
Afternoon: Proceed to Lake Baringo. Hike the Trachyte Cliffs – a specialized birding spot for cliff-nesting species. Look for Verreaux’s Eagles, Nyanza Swifts, Rock Martins, and the endemic Baringo Apalis.
Evening: Return to Lake Bogoria Spa Resort for dinner and overnight.

Early Morning: Birding boat ride to Ol Kokwe Island (Lake Baringo). This volcanic island offers excellent riparian and woodland birds. Targets: Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle, Malachite Kingfisher, Yellow-billed Stork, and possibly the elusive White-backed Night Heron.
Lunch & Rest: Back at the resort.
Afternoon: Nature walk along the hot springs and shores of Lake Bogoria. Look for Greater Flamingos, Cape Teal, Black-winged Stilts, and the stunning Golden Pipit. Listen for the call of the Northern Grey Tit.
Night: Dinner and overnight at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort.

Morning: Drive west toward Kakamega Forest. Stop at Cheploch Gorge (Kerio River) to see the local daredevil cliff divers. Birding here: Rock Pratincoles, African Black Ducks, and Red-capped Lark.
Lunch: En route or picnic.
Afternoon: Arrive at your homestay adjacent to Kakamega Forest.
Evening: Gentle forest walk to begin exploring this unique neo-congolian forest. Target birds: Great Blue Turaco, African Crowned Eagle, Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, and the colorful African Paradise Flycatcher.
Night: Dinner and overnight in a fly camp at a homestay adjacent to Kakamega forest.

Day 4

Pre-dawn: Early morning hike to a forest hilltop to watch sunrise over the canopy. Prime birding for forest specialists: Turner’s Eremomela, Blue-headed Bee-eater, Red-headed Bluebill, and the rare Chapin’s Flycatcher.
Late Morning: Return to homestay for breakfast and rest.
Lunch: After lunch, drive south to Hell’s Gate National Park.
Evening: Set up fly camp inside the park (basic, immersive camping). Short evening birding around camp. Targets: Namaqua Dove, Hildebrandt’s Starling, and the soaring Rüppell’s Vulture.

Late Morning: Break camp and short drive to Crater Lake Game Sanctuary.
Afternoon: Check into Crater Camp. Rest.
Late Evening: Guided hike around the crater rim (optional descent to the lake). Birding highlights: African Spoonbill, Little Grebe, Long-tailed Fiscal, and the striking Scarlet-chested Sunbird.
Night: Overnight at Crater Camp (comfortable tents/permanent tents).

Morning: Check out. Drive to Karagita Beach (Lake Naivasha). Take a boat ride to Crescent Island – a wildlife sanctuary where you walk among animals. Birding finale: Pelicans, Cormorants, African Jacana, Saddle-billed Stork, and the majestic African Fish Eagle.
Late Morning: Walk on the island for close bird encounters and mixed herds of zebra, giraffe, and antelope.
Lunch: Picnic or at a nearby lodge.
Afternoon: Drive back to Nairobi. Drop-off at hotel or airport.
