Morning: Depart Nairobi early in your private Adventurego 4x4. Drive north through Kiambu and Nyeri’s lush tea and coffee plantations. As you near Mount Kenya, the air turns crisp and the peaks emerge. Arrive at Sirimon Gate (2,650 m) by mid-morning.
Late Morning: Complete park registration with your guides and porters. Trek through montane forest draped in usnea lichen. Listen for silvery-cheeked hornbills and colobus monkeys in the canopy.
Afternoon: The forest gives way to heathland with giant heathers and open moorland. The trail climbs gently, revealing Batian, Nelion, and Lenana peaks. Reach Old Moses Camp (3,300 m) early afternoon. Settle in, then take a short acclimatization walk to a ridge for sunset over Mackinder Valley.

Morning: Depart Old Moses Camp (3,300 m) after breakfast. The trail steepens as you enter the true alpine moorland zone—a surreal landscape of giant lobelias, senecios, and tussock grass. Your guide explains how these unique plants have adapted to extreme temperature swings and high UV radiation. Cross the Liki North River via a wooden bridge, then ascend through the scenic Mackinder Valley.
Afternoon: The jagged spires of Batian and Nelion dominate the skyline as you continue climbing steadily towards Shipton Camp (4,200 m). The landscape becomes more barren and lunar, with scattered rock formations and sweeping views of the Lewis Glacier and Hausberg Valley. Arrive at Shipton Camp in the early afternoon. Rest, rehydrate, and take a slow acclimatization walk to a nearby viewpoint. Your guide briefs you on the summit night plan.

Day 3

Early Morning: Wake at 2:30 am for a light snack and hot tea. Depart Shipton Camp (4,200 m) by 3:00 am with headlamps lighting the rocky trail. The climb is steep but rewarding, zigzagging up scree slopes towards the summit. Reach Point Lenana (4,985 m) around 6:00 am, just in time for sunrise. To the east, the vast plains of Meru and Kitui stretch to the horizon.
Late Morning: Descend via the Austrian Hut route, heading southeast towards the stunning Gorges Valley. The landscape transforms dramatically as you drop below the rocky peaks. Traverse past the iconic Temple, a massive volcanic plug, following the Nithi River's cascading streams.
Afternoon: Continue descending through the upper heath zone to Chogoria Camp (3,500 m), nestled on a grassy ridge with breathtaking views over the Gorges Valley. Your guide leads a short walk to the valley edge for sunset.

Morning: After breakfast, enjoy a side-hike down into the heart of the Gorges Valley to visit Lake Michaelson (3,950 m), one of Kenya's most spectacular alpine lakes. The trail follows the Nithi River past the Vivienne Falls and through a hanging valley ringed by sheer cliffs. This is a photographer's paradise and a true wilderness experience. Your guide finds a quiet spot for a picnic lunch beside the lake.
Afternoon: Return to Chogoria Camp to collect your main gear, then continue your descent down the Chogoria track. The trail winds through giant bamboo and dense montane forest, alive with birdlife and the tracks of bushbuck and elephants. Arrive at Chogoria Road Head (3,000 m), where your 4x4 vehicle awaits.
Late Afternoon: Drive down the rugged Chogoria access road, passing through rural Meru villages. Transfer to your banda accommodation near the forest boundary for a well-deserved rest.

Take a final short walk along the forest edge or simply sit with coffee as the mountain reveals its peaks one last time. Late Morning: Depart for Nairobi in your private Adventurego 4x4 safari vehicle. The drive takes you through the towns of Meru and Embu, then south towards the capital. Stop for a farewell lunch at a reputable restaurant in Embu or Sagana, celebrating your successful ascent of Point Lenana.
Afternoon: Arrive in Nairobi by mid-afternoon (approx. 4:00 pm), where you will be transferred to your hotel, the international airport, or your onward connection—marking the end of your Adventurego Hiking And Safaris Mount Kenya expedition.
