Begin your day with a scenic transfer to Volcanoes National Park. En route, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where you’ll learn about the legacy of Dian Fossey and the ongoing efforts to protect mountain gorillas through conservation, research, and community engagement.

On arrival at your lodge, check in and take time to relax in the breathtaking surroundings. The area is framed by the dramatic Virunga volcanoes, with rolling green hills, lush farmland, and mist drifting across the peaks.

Today brings the highlight of your journey — gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After an early briefing, set out into the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can vary in duration and terrain, but the reward is extraordinary: a once-in-a-lifetime encounter observing these gentle giants up close in their natural habitat.

After your trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved massage, allowing you to relax and rejuvenate while surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the volcanic highlands.

Day 3

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, crossing into Uganda. On the way, stop at Lake Mutanda for a short boat ride on the lake, with views of the surrounding hills and volcanoes.

Continue to Bwindi and check in at your lodge, which offers nice views over the forested landscape. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking.

Today you’ll head into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for your second gorilla trekking experience. Compared to Volcanoes National Park, Bwindi offers a different setting, with denser forest, steeper terrain, and a more varied trekking experience.

After spending time with the gorillas, return to your lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, resting and taking in the peaceful forest surroundings.

Return To Kigali

Return To Kigali

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali, traveling through the scenic countryside of southwestern Uganda and crossing the border into Rwanda. Along the way, enjoy views of rolling hills, local villages, and terraced farmland that characterize this beautiful region.

Depending on your departure time, there may be an opportunity to stop for lunch or a short break en route. Upon arrival in Kigali, you can be transferred directly to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, or to your hotel if you are extending your stay. This marks the end of your gorilla trekking adventure in Rwanda and Uganda.
