With its lush green hills, bustling markets and lively nightlife, Kigali is a great place to explore and experience the best of Rwandan Culture. Also, the city is known for its strong commitment to sustainability, with initiatives such as green building, solar energy projects and waste management systems.

Transfer to Musanze, Volcanoes National Park

Embark on a journey of 2-3 hours to Musanze also known as Ruhengeri, nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Massif in northwest Rwanda. This buzzing city is known as the gateway to nearby Volcanoes National Park, visitors planning to track the area’s famous mountain gorillas make Musanze their base as the city is only 13km away from the park’s headquarters, and has many accommodation options.
Also, there are various restaurants and a thriving and vibrant nightlife.

Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Tour

Have an early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park for gorilla trekking – a highlight of this holiday. You will join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forest looking for these primates.
The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You will spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them play, feed, female gorillas breast feeding their babies as silverbacks watch over the family. You are allowed to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.
Head back to your lodge for lunch. In the evening, you will head to the Guardian’s Village for a cultural experience. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Golden Monkey Trekking

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about golden monkey trekking. Then head into the forests looking for these endangered beautiful primates living in the bamboos, they are very playful and more active compared to mountain gorillas.
You will spend one hour in their presence, observing them as they feed, and play, pick fruits and take as many pictures and videos as you wish. Later return to your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at rest.

Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park, the only place in Rwanda where you can see the Big 5. Along the way you will have lunch in Kigali City, then continue with the journey arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge, enjoy your dinner and overnight.

Game Drives & Boat Safari in Akagera

On these two days you will explore Akagera National Park, a stunning sanctuary in eastern Rwanda. This vast expanse of African savannah is home to an array of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, hippos, rhinos, buffaloes among others which you will see on your morning and afternoon game drives.
The serene lakes, rolling hills and lush green vegetation dominating the park’s landscape provide the perfect backdrop for a wildlife adventure. In Rwanda, Akagera National Park is the only place where you can see the Big Five. One of the afternoons, you will go on a boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will enjoy incredible sighting of water animals like hippos, crocodiles and several water birds such as herons, cormorants and crested cranes among others.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will bid farewell to Magashi Camp and embark on a journey back to Kigali City. After lunch, you will be dropped off at the airport for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar. On arriving at Abeid Amani International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver and transfer to your beach resort.
