Arrival into Antananarivo
Your first glimpse of Madagascar comes from the air, rice terraces and red clay houses stitched into green hills. Antananarivo, or Tana, hums with history and life, its bougainvillaea-lined avenues alive with the scent of clove and coffee. Here you have one night to relax before you head north.

Day 2-3
Amber Mountain National Park
Amber Mountain National Park
A morning flight delivers you to Diego-Suarez, gateway to the north’s extraordinary landscapes. Begin at the French Mountain for a 360° view of the bay’s turquoise expanse before descending toward the Three Bays, its white sand crescents washed by the emerald sea, perfect for a swim and beachside picnic. By afternoon, the road winds upward through cloud forest to Joffreville, a quiet highland village beneath the Amber Mountain.
Amber Mountain National Park reveals a world transformed, with lush rainforest, crater lakes, and sacred waterfalls that catch the morning light. Eight lemur species live among the moss-draped trees, along with rare orchids and over seventy bird species. In the evening, a guided night walk reveals tiny leaf-tailed geckos and chameleons glinting in torchlight.

The road traces through the Savannah and village before giving way to the jagged silhouettes of Ankarana’s Tsingy formations: limestone towers carved by wind and rain. Ankarana National Park invites exploration by foot: walk suspended bridges over canyons, descend into bat-filled caves, and encounter crowned lemurs along the cliffs.

Day 5-6
Iharana Wilderness
Iharana Wilderness
A short morning drive leads to Iharana, where the limestone landscape softens into mirror-still lakes and sculpted ridges. This region offers freedom of choice: glide across the lake by canoe, zip-line above the Tsingy, or abseil into cathedral-like caves. For quieter moments, choose a guided nature walk or an afternoon resting under the shade of tamarind trees.
On your second day, adventure blends with ease. Explore hidden corners of the Tsingy of Iharana in the morning light, then slow down to read, swim, or join a guided sundowner walk. The setting invites both movement and stillness.

Nosy Be
Nosy Be
The journey westward crosses fertile valleys and the cocoa plantations of Ambanja. Visit a working farm to learn how Madagascar’s rich soils and microclimates create some of the world’s most aromatic beans, then continue to Ankify for a boat crossing. The sea opens wide as Nosy Be comes into view.
Your days unfold at an island pace. Take a private boat to Nosy Sakatia to swim beside green turtles, drift above coral gardens at Nosy Tanikely, and pause at Nosy Komba for a Malagasy lunch in a Sakalava village. Between October and November, join a marine safari.

Day 11
Begin your Journey Home
Begin your Journey Home
Your Journey in Madagascar finishes here as you are transferred to the airport for your flight home.
This journey restores a sense of wonder, an odyssey through one of Earth’s last true frontiers. Northern Madagascar invites the traveller not to conquer distance but to dissolve into it: to walk beneath rainforests heavy with mist, to cross stone cathedrals carved by time, to drift over coral shallows lit by sun and current.
Each day, you move deeper into the connection between land and sea, silence and song. Every lodge, each guide, every moment has been chosen for its power to immerse, not to impress. Journey Africa’s Northern Madagascar Adventure is a passage into presence, a reminder that luxury is not excess, but awareness. It is the art of being still in places that are anything but.
