Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our experienced bird-watching safari guides who will be accompanying you throughout your Uganda birding adventure. Day 2

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Following an early morning breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes you past the equator line in Kayabwe where you stop for photography. You continue with the drive southwards with several bird sightings. You have lunch and continue with your journey.

Some of the bird species to look out for include the Red-Faced Barbet (endemic to Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda), Long-tailed cisticola, African finfoot, Rufous Bellied Heron, Brown-chested plover, White-winged Warbler, and many more. You will reach in the late afternoon, check-in at the lodge and spend the night in Lake Mburo national park.

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Lake Mburo National park, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife and bird species is most active. Lake Mburo is known for having over 300 recorded bird species, like African finfoot, African fish eagle, grey crowned crane, saddle-billed stork among many more.

After breakfast, begin your scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Park. The drive takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing rolling hills, traditional villages, lush farmlands, and the spectacular highlands of Kigezi, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.”

Enjoy a stopover for lunch en route and continue with your journey. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, relax and enjoy dinner while preparing for the exciting birding and wildlife experiences ahead.

After an early breakfast, depart for a full day of birdwatching in the renowned Mubwindi Swamp located in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi This area is considered one of the best birding sites in Uganda and is particularly famous for its concentration of Albertine Rift endemic species.

Throughout the day, search for some of the region’s most sought-after species, including the elusive Grauer’s Broadbill, Regal Sunbird, Dwarf Honeyguide, Stripe-breasted Tit, Grauer’s Scrub Warbler, Black Goshawk, Ross’s Turaco, Handsome Francolin, and, among many others. The 4-kilometre trail offers rewarding birding opportunities, beautiful forest scenery, and the chance to encounter other wildlife such as primates and butterflies.

Enjoy a packed lunch in the field before continuing your birding exploration through the afternoon. Later, return to your lodge for check out and head to Buhoma sector, enjoy your evening stay as well as dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 5

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and regulations for Uganda gorilla safaris, Start the trek with your cameras as your spotting a lot of bird species in the forest like Grauer’s Broadbill, Regal Sunbird, Dwarf Honeyguide, Stripe-breasted Tit, Grauer’s Scrub Warbler, Handsome Francolin, and, among many others. During the trek, each group being accompanied by a park ranger taking about 2-4 hours depending on where the gorillas spent their previous night. Upon seeing the gorillas, a maximum of 1 hour is allocated in the presence of these gentle giants for photography and amazing moments.

After the trek, you return to the park headquarters where you receive a gorilla trekking certificate. Your driver-guide then ensures a safe transfer to your lodge for refreshment and relaxation as well as lunch.
Later in the evening you may visit the Batwa community for cultural experience and interact with people in the community.

After an early breakfast, depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through the scenic Ishasha sector, famous for its rare population of tree-climbing lions often seen resting in large fig trees. As you travel through this wildlife-rich area, keep an eye out for elephants, buffaloes, topis, Uganda Kobs, and a variety of bird species that inhabit the park’s diverse ecosystems.

Continue with a leisurely viewing of lions if lucky through Ishasha sector before proceeding to the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay while enjoying the sights and sounds of Uganda’s most popular savannah park.

After an early breakfast, set out for an exciting morning game drive in the famous Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This wildlife-rich area offers excellent opportunities to observe a variety of animals in their natural habitat, including elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, hyenas, lions, and numerous bird species. The game drive lasts approximately four hours, providing ample time for wildlife viewing

Following the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, proceed to the Kazinga Channel for a memorable boat cruise along one of Uganda’s most productive wildlife viewing areas. The channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward, You may also encounter elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and other wildlife gathering along the riverbanks to drink and cool off.

After breakfast, depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park and embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, one of Africa’s premier tropical rainforest destinations and home to the highest concentration of primates in Uganda. The journey takes you through beautiful countryside landscapes, crater lake regions, tea plantations, and local communities, offering excellent opportunities for birdwatching along the way.

After breakfast at your lodge, prepare for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale National Park. Carry a small backpack with drinking water before heading to the park for a briefing on trekking guidelines, followed by your guided walk into the forest.

Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend up to one hour observing them as they play, feed, and interact in their natural habitat. The forest is also rich in birdlife, offering sightings of species such as the Great Blue Turaco, Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, and African Grey Parrot, among many others.
After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. This rich ecosystem, just a short drive from Kibale, is home to diverse primates and bird species, making it a haven for nature lovers.

After an early breakfast, depart from Kibale Forest National Park and begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most spectacular protected area. The drive takes you through scenic countryside, rural communities, farmlands, and beautiful landscapes of western and northern Uganda.

Given the considerable distance between the two parks, much of the day is spent on the road, although there may be opportunities to spot several bird species along the way as you pass through different habitats. Enjoy lunch en route and continue your drive northwards towards Murchison Falls National Park.

Arrive in the evening and proceed directly to your booked lodge or camp for check-in. After settling in, enjoy dinner and relax as you prepare for the exciting wildlife and birding experiences awaiting you in Murchison Falls National Park.

In early morning after breakfast, your guide will be ready to take you to the jungle in search of wildlife and bird species. The game drive exposes you to sightings of wildlife species like Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Kobs, Buffaloes, baboons, and many more.

After the game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, you then return to your lodge for lunch and refresh. Transfer for the boat cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison Falls with spectacular views and a view of several aquatic species on the riverbanks. After the boat ride, your driver/guide will then take you to the top of the falls, where the River Nile is forced through a narrow gorge about 7 metres wide before plunging over the rocks below. After, you will head back to your lodge where you will spend the night.

Throughout your way, you may make several birding stops along the way, giving you one last chance to spot and photograph some of Uganda’s remarkable bird species. You may also stopover at Zziwa rhino sanctuary, where you can track rhinos on foot. Enjoy lunch en route before continuing towards Entebbe.

Upon arrival, your driver-guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport in time for onward departure marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda birding and wildlife safari.
