Discover South Luangwa National Park

Fly by light aircraft from Lusaka to South Luangwa, one of Zambia’s great wildlife areas, for three nights at Flatdogs Camp beside the Luangwa River. The valley supports an exceptional variety of wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hippo and abundant birdlife.

Explore on morning and afternoon game drives, when guides follow tracks and respond to what is happening in the bush. Afternoon drives can continue after dark, revealing nocturnal wildlife and a very different side of the park. Walking safaris offer another perspective, slowing the experience down to tracks, plants, birds and the smaller details easily missed from a vehicle.

Three nights provides a superb introduction to South Luangwa before you move to a different part of the valley for the second half of your safari.

Go Deeper in South Luangwa National Park

Move to Kafunta River Lodge for three further nights in South Luangwa, giving you a different base from which to explore the valley. Rather than rushing on to another park, these extra days allow the safari to deepen as your guides respond to wildlife movements and explore different areas.

Continue with morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and opportunities to walk with experienced guides. South Luangwa is particularly rewarding for predators, with lion and leopard regularly encountered, while elephant, buffalo, hippo and numerous antelope species are part of the wider landscape.

With six nights in South Luangwa across two camps, there is time to move beyond simply seeing wildlife and begin noticing behaviour, tracks and the changing rhythm of the bush.

Following the Zambezi to the Victoria Falls

Fly south to Livingstone for three nights beside the Zambezi, bringing your safari to a very different conclusion. Visit Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi plunges into the Batoka Gorge in one of Africa’s most dramatic natural spectacles, with viewpoints revealing the Falls from different perspectives.

There is also time to enjoy the river itself, perhaps with a sunset cruise above the Falls, or simply relax after your days on safari. Livingstone offers a change of pace after South Luangwa and a fitting final chapter to the journey, combining the scale of Victoria Falls with the quieter beauty of the upper Zambezi.
