Day 2-4

Mchenja, South Luangwa
Fly by light aircraft from Lusaka to South Luangwa, where your safari begins with three nights at Time + Tide Mchenja, set beneath ebony trees beside the Luangwa River.
Explore on morning and afternoon game drives, with drives continuing after dark when conditions allow. South Luangwa is particularly rewarding for predators, with leopard and lion among the highlights, while elephant, buffalo, hippo and an extraordinary variety of birdlife are part of the wider landscape. Walking safaris offer another perspective, slowing the experience down to tracks, plants and the smaller details of the bush.
Three nights gives you time to settle into South Luangwa rather than simply collect sightings, with each drive shaped around wildlife movements and what is happening in the valley.

Move through South Luangwa to Time + Tide Kakuli for three further nights, changing camp rather than leaving the valley and giving you access to a different area of this remarkable ecosystem.
Continue exploring by day and night game drive and on foot, following wildlife rather than a fixed route. By now the landscape begins to feel more familiar and the safari can become more observant: returning to areas where predators have been active, following tracks and spending longer with interesting behaviour rather than moving quickly between sightings.
Six nights across two camps is deliberate. South Luangwa rewards time, and changing location allows you to experience more of the valley while retaining the continuity that comes from staying within one exceptional wildlife area.

Day 8-11
Lower Zambezi
Lower Zambezi
Leave South Luangwa by light aircraft and fly to the Lower Zambezi for four nights at Time + Tide Chongwe Camp, where the character of the safari changes completely.
Set beside the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers, the camp gives you the freedom to explore both land and water. Head out by vehicle or on foot, take a boat along the river or paddle quietly by canoe as elephants, hippos and other wildlife gather along the banks. Lion, leopard and wild dog are among the predators found in the wider ecosystem, while the river itself brings a completely different rhythm to the safari.
Four nights gives you three full days to experience the Lower Zambezi without having to choose between activities. After six nights immersed in South Luangwa, the combination of river, wildlife and varied ways to explore provides a striking contrast and a fitting final chapter to the journey.
