Day 1

Your journey begins in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Addis Ababa. You’ll drive east along the Addis–Djibouti highway, passing through key towns such as:

Bishoftu (formerly Debre Zeit), known for its crater lakes
Mojo, an important transport hub
Adama, a lively commercial city in the Rift Valley

As you descend into the Rift Valley, the landscape gradually changes from highland plateaus to open savannah and acacia woodland.
By midday, you’ll reach Awash National Park, one of Ethiopia’s oldest and most accessible parks. It is located around the Awash River and features dramatic volcanic scenery.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a guided game drive through the park. Wildlife you may encounter includes:
Oryx with their long straight horns
Soemmerring's gazelle
Warthog
Olive baboon
Bushbuck
Bird lovers will appreciate the park’s rich birdlife, including hornbills, kingfishers, and numerous endemic species.
