The Ngorongoro Crater is the most densely populated wildlife area in the world. An estimated 25,000 large mammals live in the crater! The crater has a diameter of 17-21 kilometers, and the crater floor has a surface area of approximately 260 km². The rim of the crater lies about 600 meters above the crater floor, and a soda lake is located in the center of the crater.
