1-Day Akagera Excursion for Big Five

Depart Kigali at 5:00 am for a scenic 2–2.5 hour drive to Akagera National Park, enjoying views of Rwanda’s rolling hills. On arrival, check in and begin your adventure with a sunrise boat cruise on Lake Ihema at 8:30 am. During the 2-hour cruise, spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds like the shoebill stork and African fish eagle.

At 10:30 am, continue with a game drive across savannah, woodland, and swamp landscapes in search of the Big Five—lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffaloes—along with giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at 1:00 pm in the park. At 3:00 pm, begin your return journey to Kigali, arriving in the evening with unforgettable safari memories and an optional experience of Kigali’s nightlife.
