Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, your private driver-guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay. As you prepare for your Kilimanjaro trekking adventure via the Machame Route and subsequent safari, your mountain guide will meet you for a detailed briefing and equipment check.

Day 2

Early in the morning, drive about 90 minutes to Machame Gate where your Kilimanjaro trek and safari adventure begins. After lunch at the gate, start your ascent through the rainforest, which may be wet and muddy. Porters and cooks will set up camp ahead of your arrival, preparing meals and tents. Night temperatures at Machame Camp can drop significantly.

Day 3

Early in the morning after breakfast, the day is spent to reach Shira cave (3750 m) where you will have hot lunch. The night at this bare camp will even be colder than the previous night, with temperatures dropping. Furthermore, the trail take us for an hour or so to the top of the forest. Then for about two hours at a gentler gradient through the moorland zone. Hiking to this point you will be able to see in an easterly direction, the Western Breach with its particularly spectacular glaciers. You are now due west of Kibo and after a short hike you will reach the Shira cave in the evening walk.

Day 4

The route heads east into a semi-desert, rocky landscape toward Lava Tower at about 4,600 m after a 5-hour hike. Lunch is taken before continuing to this high point, where some climbers may feel mild altitude symptoms.
Afterward, descend about 700 m to Barranco Camp, allowing important acclimatization benefits. The descent takes around two hours and offers stunning views of the Western Breach. Arrive at camp in a valley beneath the Great Barranco Wall for sunset and dinner.

Day 5

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite where we will have lunch before we proceed. Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu camp. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles.
Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and also prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

Day 6
Reach Summit, Barafu Camp (4667m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Mweka (3100m)

You will wake around 23:00 hrs, have tea and snacks like biscuits, and begin your final ascent to Uhuru Peak under the night sky. This is the most challenging part of your Machame Route climb.
Hike for about 6 hours to Stella Point on the crater rim, where you will rest briefly and witness a stunning sunrise. Continue for about 1 hour through snow to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your achievement, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp through moorland and forest for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

After an early breakfast, enjoy a scenic 3-hour descent to Mweka Gate. Sign out and receive your summit certificate, green for Stella Point and gold for Uhuru Peak.
Continue a short walk to Mweka Village, where you will have lunch and celebrate with your mountain crew. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel in Arusha for a hot shower, dinner, and overnight stay, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro climb and the start of your safari adventure.

Day 8
Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for the Tarangire River, the main water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park features diverse landscapes of baobabs, acacia woodland, and lush vegetation.
It is well known for large elephant herds, along with giraffes, zebras, and antelopes, often followed by predators like lions and leopards. Tarangire also hosts one of the highest concentrations of bird species in the world.
After lunch and an extensive game drive, continue to your partner lodge in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9-10

After an early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, a breathtaking natural wonder with rich wildlife, savannah plains, and forested areas inside its volcanic walls. Formed millions of years ago, it hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, over 500 bird species, and the rare black rhino.
After descending into the crater for a game drive and lunch, continue to Serengeti National Park, where you will spend two nights exploring its vast plains and abundant wildlife.

After an early breakfast, enjoy a game drive through Serengeti National Park as you head towards Karatu. The park is world-famous for its vast plains, rich wildlife, and the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras.
In the late afternoon, continue through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area en route to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a beautiful park known for its diverse landscapes, rich birdlife, and tree-climbing lions. The park lies between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the alkaline Lake Manyara, which attracts thousands of flamingos during the wet season.
Explore its varied habitats, home to giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffalo, and wildebeest, with a chance to spot lions resting in the trees. After lunch and a game drive, return to Arusha or transfer to the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro Machame Route and safari adventure.
