Once nearly wiped out during the 1990s civil war, Akagera has become a major conservation success after the reintroduction of the Big Five, making it one of Africa’s top safari destinations. Later, take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, Rwanda’s second largest lake, where hippos, crocodiles, and rich birdlife can be seen, especially during a stunning sunset ideal for honeymooners. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild, surrounded by grazing wildlife and natural sounds. In the afternoon, continue with another game drive through diverse landscapes of hills, plains, and lakes. End the day with an overnight stay at Karengye Bush Camp inside the park for an authentic bush experience.
