Day 2

Transfer To Queen Elizabeth NP

Transfer To Queen Elizabeth NP

After an early breakfast, depart Kampala and begin your scenic drive west toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing rolling hills, traditional villages, tea plantations, and the dramatic landscapes of western Uganda.
Enjoy a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photographs and a chance to experience the famous Equator water experiment, followed by lunch en route. Continue through Mbarara and toward the park, with opportunities to admire Ankole longhorn cattle and scenic crater landscapes along the way.
Arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the late afternoon. Depending on arrival time, enjoy an evening game drive for your first chance to spot wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and possibly lions.

A little before sunrise, coffee/tea will be served in the lounge before you head out for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second-largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. Lions are often sighted both inside and at the entrance to the park.
You will search for all the wildlife in the park and are likely to come across elephants, buffalos, lions, waterbucks, leopards, Ugandan Kobs, and many warthogs.

Today you will be transferred to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth N.P. This area is called Ishasha and is famous for its tree-climbing lions.
To escape from the heat during the day, the lions learned how to climb the fig trees. If you’re lucky, you might spot a few during your afternoon game drive.
After the game drive, you will be taken to Ishasha Wilderness Camp, a charming and luxurious lodge with beautiful views over the savanna and a river packed with hippos!

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, well known for its famous tree-climbing lions. With some luck, you may spot these unique lions resting on fig tree branches, along with other wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.

After the game drive, you will proceed for lunch at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, where you can relax and enjoy the serene wilderness surroundings.

In the afternoon, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, driving through scenic landscapes of rolling hills and rural communities. You will arrive in Buhoma, one of the main sectors of the park and a gateway for gorilla trekking.

Day 6

Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain gorilla. This is the absolute highlight of their safari in Uganda for most people. The gorillas you will track belong to one of nine habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Your gorilla trekking will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ habitat. En route, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots.
Once the gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. After that, you will come back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and begin your journey north toward Murchison Falls National Park. This is a long but scenic drive through Uganda’s diverse landscapes, passing rolling hills, rural villages, farmlands, and changing vegetation as you travel from the southwest to the northwestern region.

Enjoy lunch en route and continue the journey through Fort Portal or Hoima depending on route and timing, with beautiful views along the way. As you approach Murchison Falls, the scenery transitions into savannah wilderness.
Arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the evening, check in at your lodge, and relax after the long transfer as you prepare for wildlife adventures in Uganda’s largest national park.

Day 8

Game Drive and Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, tour the Northern section of Murchison with a high concentration of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffaloes, water-bucks, giraffes, Uganda Kob and lions, the leopards (if you are lucky), plus a variety of bird species.
Return to your accommodation for lunch and a brief break.
After lunch, you will embark on a 3-hour boat trip to the base of the falls. This trip is the highlight of the safari in Murchison Falls since it allows you to get up close to the animal species within the water. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls. You will have an opportunity to take thousands of pictures, so carry your camera with you if you like.
Also, proceed for a hike (if you like) to the top of the falls. The walk is a strenuous one, but the thrill of reaching the top is unforgettable. Miss it only if you must!
