Depart kampala And transfer to Mgahinga NP

After breakfast, depart Kampala and begin your scenic journey southwest towards Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in the far southwestern corner of Uganda near the borders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The drive takes approximately 8 hours, passing through beautiful countryside landscapes, rolling hills, local communities, and the town of Kisoro.

Enjoy a lunch stop en route before continuing through the scenic highlands of southwestern Uganda, with breathtaking views of the Virunga Mountain Range and the lush landscapes surrounding the park. Upon arrival at your lodge, check in, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this beautiful region.

Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga NP

After breakfast, you will transfer to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines, safety precautions, and the dos and don’ts while in the forest. You will then begin an unforgettable trek through the misty tropical forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas.

The trek may take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family, but the reward is a magical encounter as you spend one hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. You will have the opportunity to watch their fascinating behaviors, social interactions, and way of life while capturing memorable moments through photography.

After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, and time to unwind after this once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Golden monkey trekking and Batwa culture

After breakfast, you will head to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking guidelines and safety procedures. You will then embark on an exciting trek through the beautiful bamboo forests and lush landscapes of the park in search of the rare and endangered golden monkeys.

During the trek, you will enjoy the opportunity to observe these playful primates in their natural habitat while also discovering the rich biodiversity of the forest, including various bird species and other wildlife. After the experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, you will participate in the Batwa cultural experience, where you will interact with the indigenous Batwa community and learn about their traditional way of life, ancient forest knowledge, cultural practices, and customs.

Transfer back to kampala

After a leisurely breakfast, you will begin your long scenic journey back to Kampala. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way as you travel through the countryside, you will make a stopover for lunch en route and refreshments.

Later, you will continue with your drive to Kampala, arriving in the evening. You will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport or at your prefered hotel in kampala depending on your plan for your overnight, marking the end of your unforgettable safari adventure.
