Pickup from Kigali – Katuna Border – Lunch in Kabale – Transfer to Bwindi

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or the airport in Kigali by a professional driver-guide. You will then embark on a scenic drive towards southwestern Uganda, enjoying beautiful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills before proceeding to the Katuna Border Crossing for immigration clearance into Uganda.

After crossing the border, continue to Kabale where you will have a relaxed lunch break, surrounded by stunning terraced landscapes and cool highland air. After lunch, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dense rainforest and rich biodiversity.

Upon arrival in Bwindi, you will visit the Batwa pygmy community for a cultural experience, where you will learn about their traditional forest lifestyle, music, and heritage. Later, check in at your lodge nestled within the forested hills. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali

Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family and guided on trekking rules before heading into the forest.

The trek takes you through thick rainforest, bamboo-covered slopes, and uneven terrain, lasting between 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Along the way, experienced trackers will guide you as you search for signs of the gorillas. When you finally encounter them, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing their behavior, groom, and interact. Seeing a massive silverback up close is a truly humbling and powerful experience.

Because of the nature of the activity, you will carry a packed lunch to enjoy during or after the trek. After completing this incredible experience, you will return to the starting point and begin your journey back to Kigali.
