Tarangire National Park | Introduction to Tanzania's Wildlife Scenes

You’ll be picked up in your hotel in Arusha or from the Airport then head straight to Tarangire National Park.

This day is designed to complement the main focus of the tour by acting as an introduction to Tanzanian wildlife scenes.

Tarangire is one of the biggest national parks in Tanzania and is famous for having the largest concentration of elephants and Baobab trees in the entire Northern Circuit. During your game drive, you’ll understand the relation between these two and how they help each other dominate Tarangire.

In addition, Tarangire also offers a wide range of game, including giraffes, buffaloes, different kinds of antelopes (yes, even wildebeests, the kind that migrates locally only). The park also hosts a large diversity of birdlife as well as common predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs & birds of prey.

Enjoy a full day game drive in the park (including a picnic lunch) & by the evening, head to your overnight lodge in Karatu region.

Day 2

Ndutu Exploration 1 | Calving Grounds Focus

Ndutu Exploration 1 | Calving Grounds Focus

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you’ll begin your journey towards Ndutu calving grounds in Ngorongoro conservation area.

The journey takes you through crater rim highlands into Ndutu, an area bordering Serengeti National Park.

Ndutu is special due to 1 special feature that occurs for just 3 months every year: Wildebeest Calving (our main highlight).

Every year between late January & early March, Ndutu hosts over a million wildebeest and witnesses the birth of around 500,000 calves in a space of 2-3 weeks.

This event is extraordinary because of 3 main reason:

1. Mass births in and around the same period.
2. Calves ability to get up & start running with the herd within a short period of time.
3. Predators moving in for an easy opportunity for a feast.

The focus on this day is on calving and observing how quick calves begins to move right after birth.

Ndutu Exploration 2 | Predator Movement Focus

On our second day in Ndutu, we aim to focus our game on predator movement.

We’ll search for different predators and focus on how each kind takes advantage of this vulnerability of the wildebeests. This includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and even birds of prey such as vultures.

Day 4

Central Serengeti | Broader Migration Patterns & Overall Experience

Central Serengeti | Broader Migration Patterns & Overall Experience

After breakfast, you’ll leave Ndutu region and enter Serengeti national park.

We believe this day offers a greater insight into the wildebeest migration pattern as millions of wildebeest complete the annual migration with a final stop at central Serengeti.

Central Serengeti is already famous for its higher predator density and the stop of millions of wildebeests ensures their compact concentration and greater chance to see predator-prey dynamics in close proximity.
