Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch provided. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions and abundant resident wildlife, and is one of the few places where it is possible to spot the Big Five in a single morning drive. Some cheetahs are so accustomed to vehicles that they rest in their shade during the heat of the day, while others may even climb onto the roof for a better view of potential prey. For bird enthusiasts, nearly 500 species have been recorded, including 16 species of eagles, numerous hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four species of bustards—including the Kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird—and nine species of sunbirds.

Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha National Park
Depart early in the morning for Lake Naivasha, the highest and one of the most beautiful lakes in the Rift Valley. Situated at 1,910 metres (6,200 feet), its freshwater is surrounded by dense papyrus reeds once used by ancient Egyptians to make paper. Kingfishers perch along the papyrus while herons hide within it as they search for food. Lake Naivasha is a popular birdwatching destination, with over 400 recorded species, and is also a favourite weekend getaway for Nairobi residents who enjoy sailing, water skiing, and fishing. Due to its high altitude and cooler waters, the lake has no crocodiles, but it is home to a number of hippos. Along the lakeshore, vineyards contribute to Kenya’s growing wine industry.
