Lion tracking in Ol Pejeta
Lion tracking in Ol Pejeta
Depart Nairobi for Laikipia (3.5 hours) to visit the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which has the highest density of resident large mammals in Kenya, including rare species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, and Lelwel hartebeest. The conservancy undertakes vital conservation work and generates income through wildlife tourism, reinvesting it in conservation projects and local communities. You will spend two nights at the luxurious Sweetwaters Tented Camp, located within the conservancy and offering stunning views of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The camp features extensive grounds, a watering hole, and a night-viewing bar. All tents are en suite, and some overlook the watering hole. Activities include early-morning and late-afternoon game drives, lion tracking, and a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary. When not on game drives or tracking lions, you can relax at the camp and watch wildlife around the watering hole!

Many other plains mammals inhabit the area; 56 species have been recorded within the park, including zebra, buffalo, waterbuck, and lions. Upon entering the park, you’ll enjoy a short game drive en route to your accommodation at Sopa Lodge, perched on a ridge with stunning views over the park and lake. The lodge features a restaurant, a separate bar and lounge, a pool, and a small shop. All rooms are very spacious with excellent views.
