Dar Es Salaam to Nyerere National Park (Selous)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and wake up at your leisure. Our representative will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the domestic airport for your 45-minute flight to Nyerere NP (Selous). Upon arrival, pick up at Mtemere airstrip with our guide and embark on a memorable safari. You can expect to see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and abundant birdlife, with hippos and crocodiles especially common along the Rufiji River.

Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous, is very different from busier parks like Serengeti, offering a more intimate feel, a remote, uncrowded wilderness experience with diverse landscapes of savannah, rivers, and wetlands.

Full-day Nyerere National Park

Early morning, after a wonderful breakfast, you will go on a game drive, catching animals when they are most active. Spend the morning and afternoon on a game drive with a picnic lunch served during the day. In the evening, around 4 pm, after spotting various animals on land, you embark on a boat adventure across the Rufiji River, spotting various wildlife. A beautiful sunset is expected, with wine, hot drinks and snacks served after a wonderful, memorable day.

Nyerere National Park to Mafia Island

Morning after a great night's sleep, have breakfast and enter the park for one last game drive en route to Mtemere airstrip for your 45-minute flight to the remote, magical Mafia Island. Life moves slowly in Mafia; tourism is minimal, and at night, it can feel like you have the entire island to yourself under the stars. It has a rare, almost dreamlike atmosphere that feels far removed from the modern world. Once you arrive in Mafia, our representative will collect you at the airport and transfer you to your beautiful accommodation. Take the rest of the day to relax and reminisce about all the wildlife you have seen so far.

Once you arrive in Dar es Salaam, our representative will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation as you prepare for your flight back home. On this day, we bid farewell and thank you for joining us on this magical adventure. Depending on your flight home schedule, you can take this free day to explore Dar es Salaam city until your flight time or simply request late check-out and rest on the soft beddings of the hotel looking out at the city view (at additional/own cost). Our representative will arrange a pickup time with you and transfer you to the airport for your flight back home.
