Transfer and Border Crossing: Depart from Kigali by 3:30 AM to reach the Cyanika Border Post as it opens. Ensure you have your East Africa Tourist Visa ready for a smooth transition into Uganda.

The Trek: Arrive at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a briefing at the Ntebeko visitor center. You will spend the morning tracking the Nyakagezi gorilla family, the park's only habituated group, known for its unique social dynamics.

Evening: After the trek and lunch in Kisoro, return across the border to stay overnight in Musanze, positioning you perfectly for the next morning.

Golden Monkey Trekking: Head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a 7:00 AM briefing. These striking, bamboo-dwelling primates are active and playful, providing excellent photography opportunities during your hour of observation.

Iby’iwacu Cultural Village: In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardians (formerly Iby’iwacu). This community-led project offers an immersive look at Rwandan royalty, traditional medicine, and the famous Intore dance.

Return: Conclude your journey with a scenic drive back to Kigali in the late afternoon.

Tip: Wear long trousers and gaiters for both treks to protect against stinging nettles, and consider hiring a porter at the park entrances to assist with the terrain.
