Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants, Baobabs & Classic Safari Landscapes

After breakfast, your safari truly begins as you drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most atmospheric and underrated wildlife destinations. Tarangire is famous for its ancient baobab trees, sweeping savannah, seasonal river systems, and some of the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania. As you enter the park, the landscape immediately feels wild and cinematic: elephants moving between baobabs, giraffes browsing above acacia trees, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, baboons, and vervet monkeys scattered across the plains. Your private guide will focus on tracking the best sightings, including possible lions resting on termite mounds, leopards hidden in trees, and cheetahs moving through open country. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, allowing you to remain close to the action throughout the day. Later, you continue toward your lodge for dinner and overnight surrounded by gardens ideal for relaxing after your first day in the bush.

Day 3

Karatu to Northern Serengeti – Into the Migration Zone

Karatu to Northern Serengeti – Into the Migration Zone

Today is a major safari transition as you journey from Karatu toward the remote and wildlife-rich Northern Serengeti. This region is one of the most prized areas of the Serengeti ecosystem, especially during migration season, when vast herds of wildebeest and zebras move through the northern plains and river systems. The drive is deeply rewarding, offering changing landscapes, highland views, open savannah, and increasing wildlife activity as you move deeper into the Serengeti. Upon arrival, your guide will begin exploring the area with a game drive, focusing on the best locations for migration movement, predator activity, and riverine wildlife. The Northern Serengeti is known for fewer vehicles compared to busier central areas, giving the experience a more exclusive and authentic feeling. You may encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, and large numbers of plains game. Lunch will be served during the day, and later you settle into your lodge.

Main Destination:

Day 4

Northern Serengeti – Great Migration & Big Cat Tracking

Northern Serengeti – Great Migration & Big Cat Tracking

This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the Northern Serengeti. With a full day available, your guide can follow wildlife movement carefully rather than rushing between locations. Depending on conditions, the day may focus on open plains, river areas, kopjes, woodland edges, or known predator territories. Northern Serengeti is one of the most strategic regions for migration viewing, with wildebeest and zebra herds often moving in large numbers while predators follow closely behind. Lions may be found resting after a hunt, cheetahs may patrol the grasslands, and leopards may be spotted in trees or rocky areas. Your private safari jeep allows complete flexibility, whether you want to spend more time watching a pride of lions, photographing giraffes in golden light, or waiting quietly near a river crossing area. Lunch is served in the park, and the evening returns you to your lodge for dinner under the Serengeti sky.

Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti-From Migration Plains to Big Cat Heartland

After breakfast, enjoy one final game drive in the Northern Serengeti, searching again for river crossings, migration herds, predators, elephants, giraffes, and other wildlife that may appear along the plains and river systems. This is a valuable final opportunity to explore the north before beginning your transfer gamedrive. The transfer itself is not just a drive, it is a game drive across one of Africa’s most celebrated wilderness areas. As the scenery changes, you may pass open savannah, acacia woodland, rocky outcrops, and wildlife-rich valleys. The Central Serengeti is especially famous for big cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, making this afternoon an excellent chance for predator sightings. Your guide will use local knowledge and radio communication to maximize opportunities while keeping the experience private and relaxed. By evening, you arrive at your Camp, where you can unwind after a rich day of wildlife viewing across two different Serengeti zones.

Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands – Optional Balloon Safari & Scenic Transfer Game Drive

This morning offers one of the most memorable optional experiences of the safari: a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti, available at an additional cost. For those who choose it, the day begins before sunrise, floating above the plains as the golden light reveals the Serengeti from a breathtaking aerial perspective. Whether by balloon or by vehicle, the Central Serengeti remains one of Tanzania’s finest wildlife areas, with strong chances for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, hippos, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and antelope. After the morning to afternoon game drive and lunch in the park, you begin a scenic transfer game drive toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. The route takes you from open Serengeti grasslands toward cooler highlands. By evening, you arrive at your lodge, located on the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The camp offers a remote atmosphere, comfortable safari-style accommodation, and an excellent base before the crater experience.

Ngorongoro Crater, Crater Rim Walk & Maasai Boma Visit

Today delivers one of the strongest highlights. The day can end or begins with a crater rim walk, giving you a powerful sense of scale before descending into one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife arenas. From the rim, the views are dramatic mist, forested walls, open crater floor, and distant lakes create a landscape unlike anywhere else. Once inside the crater, the wildlife density is exceptional. Your guide will help you search for lions, elephants, buffalo, spotted hyenas, hippos, golden jackals, flamingos, and, with luck, the rare black rhino. The crater floor feels like a complete natural world enclosed within ancient volcanic walls, offering superb photographic opportunities and a real chance to see multiple iconic species in one day. Lunch will be enjoyed in the crater area before continuing with a Maasai boma visit in the Ngorongoro Highlands if it was not done day before adding cultural depth to the safari. Later, you transfer back to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
