Fly Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar

This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bahir Dar, located on the shores of Lake Tana — the source of the Blue Nile. Explore the historic monasteries found on the islands of Lake Tana, including Ura Kidane Mehret, known for its ancient religious manuscripts and artwork. Later, visit the famous Blue Nile Falls, locally known as “Tis Isat”, meaning “smoking water”. If time allows, enjoy a short city tour and viewpoints overlooking the lake and surrounding landscapes.

After breakfast, depart by road to Gondar, the former royal capital of Ethiopia. Explore the famous Fassilides Castle and the historic royal enclosure built in the 17th century. Visit the Fassilides Bath, an important religious site used during Timket celebrations, before continuing to the UNESCO-listed Debre Birhan Selassie Church, renowned for its beautiful angel-covered ceiling paintings. Simien Mountains National Park Excursion

Today enjoy a full-day excursion to the breathtaking Simien Mountains National Park, often referred to as the “Roof of Africa”. Today visit the cave church of Yemrehanna Kristos, located approximately 40km from Lalibela.
