Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading southeast through the scenic Kenyan countryside toward Amboseli National Park. The drive usually takes about five hours with a stop along the way for refreshments and stretching. You will arrive at your lodge or camp around lunchtime, check in, and enjoy some time to relax while taking in views of the plains and, on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. In the late afternoon, head out for your first game drive where you may encounter Amboseli’s famous elephant herds, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, and possibly lions or hyenas as the sun sets over the savannah. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2

Start the day early with a sunrise game drive, the best time to spot predators and enjoy clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds gather around the summit. The cool morning hours are excellent for wildlife activity, and you may see elephants crossing the plains, buffalo near the swamps, or large flocks of birds around the wetlands. After breakfast back at the lodge, spend the late morning relaxing by the pool or enjoying the peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, continue exploring different parts of the park including Observation Hill and the swamp areas fed by underground streams from Kilimanjaro. The diverse landscapes make Amboseli one of Kenya’s best parks for photography and close-up wildlife encounters. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and another overnight stay.

Your third day in Amboseli offers a slower pace with time to fully enjoy the safari atmosphere. After breakfast, you can take a relaxed morning game drive or simply unwind at the lodge while watching animals gather near nearby waterholes. Optional activities such as a visit to a traditional Maasai village can provide insight into the culture and traditions of the local community living around the park. Later in the afternoon, head back into the park for another extended game drive, exploring quieter areas where you may spot cheetahs, jackals, hippos, or large elephant families moving across the open plains. As the day ends, enjoy one final sunset in Amboseli before returning to your lodge for dinner and your last overnight stay in the park.

Day 4
Amboseli to Nairobi

Wake up early for an optional short sunrise game drive or simply enjoy breakfast with views of the park before checking out. Afterward, begin the drive back to Nairobi, passing through local towns and rural landscapes along the way. You may stop for lunch en route before continuing the journey to the city. Arrival in Nairobi is usually in the late afternoon or early evening, marking the end of your 4-day Amboseli safari experience filled with wildlife, landscapes, and memorable views of Africa’s highest mountain.
