Uganda gorilla trekking safari begins early in the morning with a transfer from your lodge to the briefing point inside the national park. Upon arrival, you will meet the ranger guides who will provide a short but important briefing about the trekking rules, safety guidelines, and what to expect during the gorilla encounter. After the briefing, you will be assigned a specific gorilla family to track based on your fitness level and the group’s location.
You will then begin your trek into the dense rainforest, either by driving closer to the starting point or hiking directly depending on the gorilla family’s movement. The trek can take anywhere from a short walk to several hours as you navigate through thick vegetation, steep slopes, and sometimes slippery terrain.
It is highly recommended to hire a local porter to assist you during the trek. The porter can carry your day pack and help support you on challenging sections of the trail, making your experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
