Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Gorilla Sights guide who will assist you and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali city for check-in and relaxation. Kigali is the vibrant and colourful capital of Rwanda, known for its cleanliness, safety, and well-organised urban landscape. The city spreads across a series of scenic rolling hills and deep valleys, creating a beautiful and refreshing skyline from almost every viewpoint.
Kigali’s layout is unique, with administrative and government offices positioned on different hills, while the bustling city centre sits on another, making exploration both interesting and scenic. During your stay, you may explore this dynamic city, which offers a blend of modern development and rich Rwandan culture. After breakfast at your hotel, you will begin your scenic drive to Volcanoes Park, located in northwestern Rwanda. The journey takes you through beautiful countryside landscapes, with rolling green hills, terraced farms, and local villages that showcase Rwanda’s rich rural life. Along the way, you will experience breathtaking views of the Virunga mountain ranges as you approach the park region.
Volcanoes National Park is one of Africa’s most famous conservation areas and a key habitat for the endangered mountain gorillas. On arrival in the park area, you will check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing, preparing for the exciting gorilla trekking experience
The park lies within the Virunga Conservation Area and is surrounded by dramatic volcanic peaks, lush bamboo forests, and mist-covered slopes that create a truly magical atmosphere. This region is not only known for gorillas but also for its rich biodiversity, including golden monkeys and a variety of bird species.

Today you will venture into dense rainforest in search of one of nature’s wildlife encounters. The trek can be challenging, with steep slopes, thick vegetation, and unpredictable terrain, but every step brings you closer to a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Once you locate a gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend a precious hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watch as they forage for food, play among themselves, groom each other, and rest in ways that closely resemble human behavior. Their gentle interactions and strong family bonds creates an unforgettable experience.
The gorillas live in remote areas of the forest where food is abundant, often moving across steep volcanic hills in search of nourishment. Despite the demanding trek, the reward of seeing these magnificent creatures in the wild is truly extraordinary.

Golden Monkey Trekking, Meet a Primates that is unique in Rwanda, Uganda, & Congo, Return to Kigali,

Spend the morning enjoying an exciting golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park, exploring the lush bamboo forests at the base of Mount Sabyinyo. This area is home to habituated groups of golden monkeys, including a large troop of more than 80 individuals. These playful and energetic primates are often seen leaping through bamboo stems, feeding, grooming, and interacting in lively social groups, offering a very different wildlife experience compared to gorilla trekking.
The trek takes you through beautiful, dense vegetation and scenic forest trails, with opportunities to enjoy the rich biodiversity of the park and the peaceful mountain environment. Your guides will help you track the monkeys and interpret their behaviour.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge for refreshment before beginning your road transfer back to Kigali. The drive offers one last chance to enjoy. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will then head to Kigali International Airport for your flight.
