Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to volcanoes NP

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional
driver-guide from Naleyo Tours and Travel and immediately begin the scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park.
Enjoy beautiful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and countryside as you head north toward the Virunga
region. Arrive in the evening and check in at your hotel for relaxation ahead of your trekking
adventure.

Nature & Cultural Experience Around Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed day around Volcanoes National Park with light activities designed to complement your upcoming gorilla trekking experience without being too strenuous.

You may visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn more about gorilla conservation and Rwanda’s remarkable conservation efforts. Later, enjoy a cultural village experience where you will interact with local communities, experience traditional Rwandan dance and music performances, and gain insight into the region’s traditions and lifestyle.

In the afternoon, you may choose to relax at the lodge while enjoying spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes or explore the nearby local markets and surrounding scenery at a gentle pace.

This extra day allows for proper relaxation and acclimatization before the gorilla trekking adventure the following morning.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by
Rwanda Development Board rangers before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure.
A shorter and less strenuous gorilla family trek will be requested for your comfort. Accompanied by
experienced ranger guides, you will hike through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of one
of the habituated gorilla families.
Coming face-to-face with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is an emotional and
unforgettable wildlife encounter. Spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, groom, and
interact within their family groups while enjoying incredible photography opportunities.
After the trek and lunch, transfer to your lodge and relax for the evening.

Golden Monkey Tracking – Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, return to Volcanoes National Park for your golden monkey tracking adventure. This
trek is lighter and shorter than gorilla trekking but equally enjoyable.
Golden monkeys are energetic, playful, and unique to the Virunga region. Their vibrant goldenorange
fur and lively movements through the bamboo forest create excellent photography moments
and a truly memorable wildlife encounter.
After the activity and lunch, transfer back to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
