An early domestic flight takes you to Sambava, gateway to Madagascar's remote northeast. From here, travel about an hour to Manantenina, the entrance to Marojejy National Park. From there, begin your first exploration of this spectacular mountain rainforest, considered by many wildlife enthusiasts to be Madagascar's most beautiful national park.

Exploring Marojejy National Park

Exploring Marojejy National Park

Spend two full days exploring the magnificent rainforests of Marojejy National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Madagascar's richest biodiversity hotspots. Accompanied by expert local guides, hike through pristine rainforest in search of the critically endangered silky sifaka, one of the world's rarest and most beautiful lemurs. The park is also home to numerous other wildlife species, including chameleons, frogs, geckos, and a remarkable variety of endemic birds. Along the way, enjoy lush forest trails, crystal-clear streams, waterfalls, and spectacular mountain scenery that make Marojejy one of Madagascar's most rewarding wildlife destinations.

Day 5

Marojejy to Daraina Reserve

Marojejy to Daraina Reserve

After a final morning exploring Marojejy National Park, return to Sambava and continue north to the unique Daraina Reserve. This little-visited conservation area protects a mosaic of forests and is best known as the only place in the world where the endangered golden-crowned sifaka can be found. In the evening, a guided night walk is scheduled in search of the elusive Aye-Aye, Madagascar's most unusual lemur. Daraina is considered one of the best places in the country to observe aye-ayes in their natural habitat, offering an excellent chance to encounter this rare and fascinating nocturnal primate.

Daraina Reserve and Transfer to Ankarana

Daraina Reserve and Transfer to Ankarana

Enjoy a morning guided walk in Daraina Reserve in search of the rare golden-crowned sifaka, one of Madagascar's most endangered and localized lemurs. The reserve is also home to several other lemur species, colorful birds, reptiles, and unique dry forest flora. After lunch, continue by road to Ankarana National Park, passing through the scenic landscapes of northern Madagascar before arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon.

The park is renowned for its impressive limestone Tsingy formations, vast cave systems, underground rivers, and spectacular canyons. Day 9

After breakfast, depart Ankarana and drive south towards Ankify. Along the way, stop to visit a local cocoa plantation, where you will learn about the cultivation and processing of one of Madagascar's finest export products. Continue to the port of Ankify and board a boat transfer to the tropical island of Nosy Be. Upon arrival, transfer to your beachfront hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps relaxing by the beach while taking in your first sunset over the beautiful Mozambique Channel.
