Day 1-2

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve

Your journey begins with a picturesque drive north from Nairobi, gradually transitioning from the bustling city into the dramatic, semi-arid scenery of Samburu. On arrival at your lodge or tented camp, you will check in, enjoy lunch, and take some time to unwind before setting out for your first afternoon game drive. Samburu is celebrated for its rare and distinctive wildlife, including species not commonly found in other parks, such as Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and the unique gerenuk with its elongated neck.

The next day is fully dedicated to discovering this remarkable wilderness. Morning and afternoon game drives take you through riverine woodlands and expansive open plains along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where you may spot elephants, lions, and a wide variety of bird species. The peaceful, less crowded setting of Samburu creates an intimate and truly authentic safari experience.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, you will set off for the famous Ol Pejeta Conservancy, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. This private reserve is widely recognized as one of Kenya’s top conservation areas and hosts the highest population of black rhinos in East Africa.

In the afternoon, you will explore both the Rhino Sanctuary and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where rescued chimpanzees can be seen. A key highlight of your visit is the opportunity to learn about—and possibly observe—Najin and Fatu, the world’s last two northern white rhinos, who are carefully protected under constant supervision. Later, enjoy an evening game drive across the conservancy’s scenic plains, where sightings of lions, elephants, buffalo, and many other wildlife species are common.

The drive continues through ever-changing landscapes, from rolling highlands to wide valley floors scattered with farms, rural settlements, and distant escarpments.

You will arrive at your lodge near Lake Nakuru in time for lunch, followed by some time to unwind before an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.
