Today you will experience Africa's highest mountain on a memorable day hike along the famous Machame Route. Depart Arusha early in the morning and drive to Machame Gate for registration and briefing. Begin your hike through the lush montane rainforest, home to black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, colorful birds, and towering indigenous trees. As you ascend, enjoy beautiful waterfalls, dense vegetation, and fresh mountain air. Reach Machame Camp at approximately 3,000 meters, where spectacular views of Mount Meru, Shira Plateau, and Kibo Peak await. After enjoying a packed lunch and taking photographs, begin your descent through the rainforest back to Machame Gate.
