Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our professional driver-guide and briefed on your upcoming safari. Thereafter, depart Kigali and enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda's picturesque countryside towards Volcanoes National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Along the way, admire the rolling hills, terraced farms, and charming rural landscapes that have earned Rwanda the name "Land of a Thousand Hills."

Upon arrival at the lodge, settle into your accommodation and take time to relax while enjoying the spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to unwind from your travels, explore the lodge surroundings, and prepare for the exciting gorilla trekking adventure awaiting you the following day. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers before setting out on one of Africa's most extraordinary wildlife experiences. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, you will venture into the lush slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

The duration of the trek varies depending on the gorillas' location, taking you through bamboo forests, dense vegetation, and scenic mountain terrain. As you hike, your guides will share fascinating information about the park's biodiversity, conservation efforts, and the behavior of these remarkable primates.

Upon locating the gorillas, you'll spend an hour observing them in their natural environment. Watch as family members interact, young gorillas play, and the imposing silverback keeps a watchful eye over the group. After this encounter, return to the lodge with lasting memories.

Return to Kigali & Transfer to Airport

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. Venture into the bamboo forests on the lower slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of these rare and energetic primates, known for their playful behavior and striking golden-orange fur. Once located, spend time observing and photographing the monkeys as they move through the forest canopy.

Following the trek, return to the lodge to freshen up and check out. Thereafter, bid farewell to the lodge staff and begin your scenic drive back to Kigali. En route, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial for an insightful look into Rwanda's history and remarkable journey of recovery and reconciliation. Depending on your schedule, you'll have lunch in Kigali before being transferred either to your hotel in the city or to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your memorable Rwanda safari.
